Throughout history, fire has been a devastating destroyer. During the 1800s, thousands of wooden structures in the U.S. were annihilated by fires that spread quickly as firefighters could do nothing about them. Although our workplaces are much safer from these blazes today, devastating industrial fires still occur all too often. When a fire consumes chemicals, plastics and other modern-day substances, it can create toxic infernos that spread quickly and kill instantly. Fortunately, most industrial fires can be prevented. Employees can do their part in fire prevention by staying alert and following their company's Fire Prevention Plan.
